TUNIS – UNIVERSNEWS – La cérémonie de clôture des travaux du “Projet de Protection contre les inondations du Grand Tunis – Zone de Tunis Ouest” s’est tenue aujourd’hui à Cité Ezzouhour, en présence de Mme Sarra Zâafrane Zenzri, Ministre de l’Equipement et de l’Habitat, de l’Ambassadeur du Japon, Osuga Takeshi et de M. Ueno Shuhei, Représentant Résident de la JICA en Tunisie.
Objet d’un prêt concessionnel de 6.808 millions de yens (l’équivalent de 150 Millions de dinars), le projet a un impact socio-économique très important puisqu’il couvre une zone très urbanisée de la région Ouest du Grand Tunis, visant 670 mille habitants, à savoir Manouba, Ibn Sina, Ksar Saïd, Bortal Haider, Zahrouni, Bardo et les quartiers avoisinants de Sabkhet Sijoumi ainsi que les cités Ezzouhour 3, 4 et 5.
L’objectif du projet est de minimiser le risque des dommages causés par les inondations et d’améliorer l’infrastructure de contrôle des inondations dans le Grand Tunis. A cet effet, un nouveau canal a été construit entre Sabkhet Sijoumi et Oued Méliane. Il a permis de limiter le risque des inondations en réduisant le niveau d’eau annuel de Sabkhet Sijoumi. Les zones aux alentours sont connues pour être des zones très inondables, entrainant des dommages pour les habitations. Le projet a ainsi permis d’améliorer la qualité de l’environnement et surtout la qualité de vie des citoyens dans les zones précitées.
“Le Japon est un partenaire essentiel pour le Ministère de l’Equipement et de l’Habitat pour l’importance de l’aide au développement qu’il fournit et pour ce que nous partageons en termes d’engagement pour la qualité des infrastructures et de projets de collaboration en Afrique pour une infrastructure durable, intégrée et de qualité grâce à la qualité Japonaise et à l’expertise Tunisienne”, a déclaré Mme Sarra Zâafrane Zenzri, Ministre de l’Equipement et de l’Habitat, lors de la cérémonie.
Pour sa part, OSUGA Takeshi a indiqué que : “Grâce aux canaux de drainage nouvellement construits et élargis, cette zone sera en mesure de résister aux pluies diluviennes. Le Japon, ayant une longue histoire et des expériences de la lutte contre les catastrophes naturelles liées à l’eau, continuera à coopérer au développement durable de la Tunisie dans ce domaine”.
De son côté, Ueno Shuhei a affirmé que “l’achèvement de ces travaux marque une étape très importante dans la stratégie de protection contre les inondations du Grand Tunis, et nous espérons que cette réalisation contribuera à améliorer la qualité de vie des populations de la zone de Tunis-Ouest, et réduira considérablement l’impact négatif des inondations sur l’environnement dans cette zone”.
