L’Espagne a dépassé lundi, le seuil des 90 000 décès dus au COVID-19, selon les dernières données publiées par le ministère de la Santé du pays.
Au total, 202 décès journaliers ont été confirmés à 14h vendredi et à la même heure lundi, portant le nombre total à 90 136 morts dans le pays depuis le début de la pandémie.
Au cours de la période de 72 heures, 292 394 nouveaux cas ont été signalés, portant le nombre total d’infections à 7 millions 457 mille 300, tandis que l’incidence du virus sur 14 jours a grimpé de 267,2 points à 2 989,47 cas pour 100 000 habitants.
Le taux d’occupation des lits de soins intensifs a grimpé à 23,58%, avec 13,4% de tous les lits actuellement occupés par des personnes souffrant du coronavirus.
Les données ont été publiées le jour même où les enfants sont retournés à l’école en Espagne après les vacances de Noël, le ministère de la Santé signalant que 32,1% des 3 350 000 enfants âgés de 5 à 16 ans ont été vaccinés.
Le Premier ministre espagnol Pedro Sanchez a déclaré lundi aux médias locaux que son gouvernement achèterait 344 000 doses du médicament antiviral Pfizer, qui a démontré qu’il pouvait réduire d’environ 88 % les hospitalisations des patients infectés par le COVID-19.
