Le réchauffement des relations irano-saoudiennes et le rétablissement des relations diplomatiques entre les deux pays, la Fédération asiatique de football a rétabli l’équilibre et a permis aux clubs du sport-roi de jouer les rencontres de la coupe asiatique, dans les deux pays, alors que, durant les années précédentes, les matchs se jouaient dans un pays neutre.
Cette nouvelle donne a permis l’arrivée de la star du football mondial, Cristiano Ronaldo à Téhéran, avec son club Al-Nassr pour affronter Perspolis, un club iranien, dans leur premier match de la Ligue des Champions de l’AFC Le Portugais a été accueilli en héros à Téhéran. À son arrivée, le Portugais a été accueilli en véritable héros, dans le pays des Mollahs !!!
On ne sait pas si les fans de Persepolis vont acclamer leur club ou Cristiano Ronaldo???
