Le gouvernement de coalition du Premier ministre néerlandais Mark Rutte est tombé après des négociations houleuses entre les quatre partis au pouvoir autour de la politique d’accueil des réfugiés, ont rapporté vendredi 7 juillet 2023 des médias nationaux.
«Le gouvernement n’est pas parvenu à un accord sur les mesures à prendre afin de restreindre l’afflux de demandeurs d’asile. C’est ce qui est rapporté à La Haye», écrit sur son site la radio-télévision publique néerlandaise NOS. « C’est ainsi la fin du gouvernement Rutte IV », ajoute-t-elle.
Surnommé « Teflon » pour sa capacité à rester au pouvoir depuis 12 ans malgré les scandales –et devenant ainsi le Premier ministre le plus longtemps en service de l’histoire des Pays-Bas–Rutte avait pris les rênes de sa quatrième coalition en janvier 2022 après un record de 271 jours de négociations.
Mais le chef du gouvernement, du parti de droite libérale VVD, avait semé ces derniers jours le trouble chez ses partenaires de la droite et du centre, en exigeant d’eux l’adoption d’une série de mesures clivantes autour de l’accueil des demandeurs d’asile.
