TUNIS – UNIVERSNEWS – Rachid Sfar vient de nous quitter à l’âge de 90 ans. Il est le fils de Tahar Sfar grande figure militante et cofondateur, avec Habib Bourguiba, du Néo-Destour en 1934. Rachid Sfar faisait partie de la génération des commis de l’Etat qui ont consacré leur vie à la construction de la Tunisie moderne.
En 1986 la Tunisie a adopté un PAS (plan d’ajustement structurel) qui a permis de rétablir ses équilibres macroéconomiques. Ce plan a été l’œuvre d’un travail conjoint entre, d’une part, l’équipe du FMI et de la Banque mondiale chapeautée par l’économiste Béla Belassa et, d’autre part, par les hauts fonctionnaires tunisiens des ministères du plan, des finances et de la Banque centrale. Rachid Sfar était Premier ministre.
Depuis ce PAS, la Tunisie n’a plus fait appel à l’aide du FMI qu’en 2012!
Voilà un petit aperçu du parcours d’un Homme qui a consacré sa vie au développement de la Tunisie.
